December 10×10 Wrap Up
This may have been the best start to a new year I’ve ever experienced. Two of my best friends just got engaged, to each other! I am so happy for them, I’ve been skipping around giddy with glee. While their relationship success is all them, I’ve got to take a little bit of credit for their start. They met because of me and it took just a little bit of nudging to get things moving in the right direction. I’d call myself a matchmaker, but that just makes me think of the one from Mulan, which isn’t exactly my cup of tea (I think I’m funny, it’s okay if you don’t).
These two people are so important to my husband and I, we couldn’t be more thrilled. One is my best friend/soul sister since first grade. The other is a wonderful guy my husband made friends with through work and was our roommate for awhile. He became like family to us. I had toyed with the idea of the two of them, but never in my wildest dreams could I have realized just how perfect they would be. Until I saw them together. It was one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever witnessed.
I like planning. If I could meticulously plan out my whole life, I would. Actually, I’ve tried. But it doesn’t work that way. Sometimes though, things go right, and everything falls into place. We are at a point in our lives where it’s hard to see what the future will bring. My dream would be to be near the people I love and maybe that will eventually happen, maybe not. What I do know is that I will love them no matter the distance, no matter the roads life takes us down. As long as they have each other, that’s enough to make me smile.
But seriously, I really hope we can be porch buddies and grow old together. That would be legen…(wait for it)…
I did it you guys. I actually did it. 10 items, 10 outfits, 10 days. There was I point I honestly did not think I was going to make it to 10 days before the year was over. Some days I’d get dressed all nice only to be out of the house for 30 minutes tops, with majority of that time spent in the car. But I like getting dressed up. Getting to play with colors, textures, silky collars peeking out from cozy sweaters.
My Christmas sweater only got worn a couple of times, but it is so worthwhile having it in my wardrobe. There are occasionally items that are worth keeping even if they only get worn a couple times a year. One nice Christmas sweater is just such an item. It’s also why it’s best to only have one holiday sweater, one that you really adore.
My top 3 favorite outfits of this 10×10 challenge would have to be outfit 4, outfit 5, and outfit 9. Outfit 4 looked so chic with the differing textures and the sage green sweater contrasted against all the black. Outfit 5 had a burgundy shirt under my Christmas sweater with my ever loved boyfriend jeans and red Christmas socks. The mix of red and burgundy, with the neutral sweater and blue denim was a lot of fun. Outfit 9 is similar to the 4th one except I was wearing black denim instead of leather leggings and a burgundy shirt instead of black under the sage sweater. The color combo of sage green and burgundy is absolutely gorgeous, having black on the bottom half helped to make the top colors stand out more.
Now that this challenge is over I can wear the white jeans I got from my mom! One thing I’ve noticed 10x10ers get excited about after a challenge is getting back to their full wardrobe. It gives renewed appreciation for what you have.
My 10 items included:
- 3 bottoms: boyfriend jeans, black skinny jeans, and leather leggings
- 3 sweaters: sage green sweater, Christmas sweater, and a thick taupe turtleneck
- 3 button up shirts: white sleeveless silk shirt, black rounded collar silk shirt, and a burgundy shirt that is longer in the back
- 1 pair of shoes: black booties
