December 10×10 Outfits 6-10
With Christmas over, it’s time to plan for the new year. I already know that 2018 is going to be an adventure, crazy busy, hopefully successful, and very rewarding if all goes well. So glad to be done with 2017. The weather the last few days kept switching from gorgeous and warm to unpleasantly bitterly cold. Still no snow though, which is a bit disappointing. I don’t remember a year in my life without any snow at all. This winter isn’t feeling very wondrous. Aside from a few quick outings, we ended up spending the last week of the year mostly indoors. Our New Year’s Eve plans consisted of making stir fry and drinking sake, and of course working on those resolutions.
New Year’s Resolutions can often be intimidating, daunting, and ultimately pointless. But I’ve found that by setting both specific and overarching goals for the year I can better focus myself. The most important part of creating resolutions and goals, at least for me, is allowing flexibility. By now, I’ve gotten to know myself a little, and I know that I am horrible at following through on plans. I can spend weeks meticulously planning every little detail of something and then messing up right off the bat. So, now I give myself leeway. I don’t expect to make big changes right away, because it’s not about always doing everything exactly right. It’s about being more mindful and working towards the goal, thinking more long-term. This is where the overarching goals come in. 2018’s overarching goals will be Wellness & Kindness. I know I’ll mess up, but by accepting that, I can move past those mistakes and keep going rather than just giving up entirely.
This is the second half of the December 10x10 Challenge. To see what 10 items I chose, check out the previous post.
I ended up wearing almost the exact same outfit two days in a row. The only difference was wearing leather leggings instead of black jeans and I did my hair differently. While the two looks were very similar, they showcase taking the outfit from a daytime look to a night out. The night out version is actually one of my husband’s favorite winter date night looks on me.
For my 8th outfit I got to re-wear my black silk shirt and boyfriend jeans. This outfit is so casual and cool, perfect for a breezy sunny day while still being classy. I’ve worn this outfit several times since getting my Everlane boyfriend jeans, the first boyfriend jeans I’ve ever owned. I can’t get enough of them. And they will be the only pair I will have for awhile. Because, while I do love them, I don’t think I need more than one at this time. Just because a piece of clothing is perfect for you, doesn’t mean you need to get multiples, or in every color just to have them. Be mindful, be patient.
This is one of my favorite outfits from the December 10x10 Challenge. I love the burgundy and sage combo, collared shirts under sweaters are kinda my jam, and the black jeans with black booties for the bottom half make the top part stand out even more while simultaneously elongating my legs (or as much as they can visually appear to be since it is difficult to get around how obviously short I am).
My New Year’s Eve look did not last long. I wore a sleeveless white silk shirt and burgundy cardigan with leather leggings and black booties. I did my makeup. We went out for about 10 minutes before deciding it was too cold to do anything other than sit on the couch playing video games in sweats and covered in blankets. But I did enjoy the outfit, the colors, textures and proportions. At first I didn’t really care for the longer length of the white shirt, but it’s really grown on me.
