December 10×10 Outfits 1-5
The weather has been a bit warmer than usual and very dry. We’ve had no snow at all, not even rain! But that does make running errands a bit easier and I am grateful that there hasn’t been a blizzard yet this year to trap the hubs at work. He did have to work Christmas Eve night, but once he got home in the morning we opened up our gifts while watching a Friends Christmas episode. The kitties got a lot of new toys, which somewhat overwhelmed their senses on top of all the boxes and paper. I received some new clothes, inspirational quote cards, lotions, a Turtle Beach headset (from the hubs, of course). He got some new clothes as well, a backpack from me, some desk decorations, and a card game.
Everlane items made up a good majority of our gifts. The small modern twill single snap backpack in burgundy, which will be perfect for travel. The men’s grey crew sweatshirt, a nice casual option for surviving the cold weather. I received a pair of high-waisted ankle skinny jeans in bone, a double-lined black silk v-neck cami and the pocket box cut tee in black.
This will hopefully be our last Christmas away from family, but we do enjoy our relaxed holidays with the kitties and each other. We are so very grateful for everything we’ve received this year and even more so for the people in our lives. I had a difficult time coming up with a Christmas list this year because I am trying to be better at having less and only getting things from more ethical sources. So many people end up with piles of things that they will never use after the holidays and yet are always focused on getting more. Maybe we can start to reverse this trend. Spend less time worrying about how much should be given and received for holidays and more time on choosing gifts well, from the heart. Spread love and joy rather than feeding unsustainable consumerism and the stress involved.
My 10 items included:
- 3 bottoms: boyfriend jeans, black skinny jeans, and leather leggings
- 3 sweaters: sage green sweater, Christmas sweater, and a thick taupe turtleneck
- 3 button up shirts: white sleeveless silk shirt, black rounded collar silk shirt, and a burgundy shirt that is longer in the back
- 1 pair of shoes: black booties
I managed to wear a combination of all 10 items in my first 5 outfits. While I enjoyed all of them, my favorite outfit was the 4th one. Black rounded collar silk shirt under the sage green sweater with leather leggings and black booties. The green contrasted so well against the black and complemented the pink lip color. Plus the mix of textures is incredible, knit, silk, faux leather and suede.
My second favorite outfit from the 5 would be my Christmas look. I wore my black & white Christmas sweater over the burgundy shirt with boyfriend jeans and black booties. For added spirit, I wore red Christmas socks, which could be seen under the cuff of my jeans. I did a mix of Blu-Red and Plum Lipsense for Christmas to match the burgundy of the shirt and red of the socks.
What did you do for the holidays? Did you end up with a lot of stuff this year or only things you really want and need? How do you go about being a mindful consumer during the holidays? I’d like to hear your thoughts, leave a comment below!
